STORAGE TIP
Store tomatoes at room temperature, away from direct light. Refrigeration is not the best place for tomatoes, which are sensitive to cold. Refrigeration also degrades the flavor. Depending on ripeness when purchased, Brandywine Tomatoes can last a week or more in the kitchen. Ripe tomatoes should be used within a day or two, for the best tasting dishes and maximum absorption of vitamins. These heirloom tomatoes will freeze well and can be stored frozen for 8-12 months.
HOW TO USE
These tomatoes are full-bodied and non-acidic, making them perfect for many different recipes. The satisfying flavor of these tomatoes are best when served fresh. They are delicious on their own, or when accompanied by just a pinch of salt and a few cuts of basil. They can be used in salads, featuring cubed or diced tomatoes with ingredients such as fresh corn, watermelon, red onions, and vinaigrette. This beefsteak type is also great for slicing and adding to sandwiches like BLTs. Red Brandywine tomatoes pair beautifully with cheeses, like cheddar and fresh mozzarella, as well as herbs like cilantro.
