Red leaf lettuce is especially rich in the antioxidant beta carotene, which is a carotenoid pigment that your body converts into vitamin A, it contains vitamin C, K and other fabulous vitamins and minerals. Eating adequate amounts of beta carotene may bolster your eyesight and reduce your risk of macular degeneration, a condition that can lead to vision loss.

Use a bowl filled with cold water and place the base of your head down into the bowl. Freshen the water each day, until you are ready to use it. Too much of a hassle? Then place the lettuce in plastic bag with paper towels and store it in the vegetable drawer.
