STORAGE TIP
Do not wash until ready to eat. Wrap cauliflower in plastic wrap or place in a plastic or reusable bag. The less oxygen that reaches the vegetables the longer they stay fresh. Cauliflower (and broccoli) release ethylene during storage, which shortens the shelf life of the other vegetables around them. So, make sure your cauliflower is wrapped snug. Keep in refrigerator at 40 degrees Fahrenheit between 1 week.
Freezing tip: wash head thoroughly and pat dry. Break off pieces and lay on cookie sheet. Flash freeze and place in freezer bag for 6-12 months in the freezer.
Farmers wife tip: If you want a handy healthy snack easily ready – consider washing, drying and breaking pieces and placing the “little trees” in a tightly sealed container and place in the fridge for a readily easy crunchy snack. Keeps in fridge for 1 week.
